Wash Bay Installation in Bundamba, QLD

Client: Residential construction company in Windsor, QLD

Companies that manage wash bays must handle wastewater properly. Washing a car creates runoff that may contain oils, grease, chemicals, or other pollutants. This runoff needs to be cleaned up before entering the sewer system. If a business fails to manage its wastewater, it risks breaking environmental rules. This can result in fines that harm the company and disrupt its daily operations.

A wash bay system was required for a building firm’s facility in Bundamba, QLD, to ensure effective wastewater treatment using an Oil Water Separator (OWS) along with the existing climate and site infrastructure. Citi Industries was chosen to provide a complete wastewater system solution, covering everything from construction to commissioning.

This case study will look at the client’s challenges, the Citi Industries solution, and the results achieved.

Problem Faced by the Client

The client required a waste management scheme that was suitable for the operational demand without compromising on environmental regulations. The following challenge had to be disposed of:

  • The site required a proven system to remove oils and other contaminants through an Oil Water Separator (OWS).
  • It was imperative to ensure that the OWS was correctly connected to the sewer system to avoid blockage and compliance issues.
  • The new pipework needed to align efficiently with the existing infrastructure of the facility without causing much disruption or expensive upgrades.
  • The system had to be put into operation quickly to meet the end-users’ business needs and regulatory requirements.

In the absence of an efficient and comprehensive wastewater management solution, the client would have been looking at inefficiencies, non-compliance, and interruptions to work.

Solutions Provided by Citi Industries

Citi Industries approached the project with a focus on reliability, compliance, and seamless integration. The scope of the project included:

  1. Mounting a Control Panel
A control panel was installed on-site to allow the client to easily monitor and operate the wastewater system.

  2. Pipework Installation for the OWS and Suction Line
New pipework was fitted to connect the Oil Water Separator and suction line, ensuring smooth and reliable wastewater flow.

  3. Sewer Connection
The OWS was connected directly to the sewer at the correct position, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

  4. System Commissioning
The entire system was commissioned and tested to confirm it was processing wastewater effectively and efficiently.

By handling every step of the process, from installation through commissioning, Citi Industries ensured that the wash bay system was ready for immediate use.

Results of the Project

The Bundamba wash bay installation was completed successfully, delivering several key outcomes for the client:

  • Fully Operational Wash Bay: The client received a complete and reliable wastewater management system tailored to their site.

  • Efficient Wastewater Treatment: The OWS ensured that oils and contaminants were properly separated, keeping the system compliant and environmentally safe.

  • Seamless Integration: The new pipework was connected to existing infrastructure without complications, minimising disruption.

  • Compliance-Ready Facility: The system was delivered in line with environmental and industry standards, giving the client peace of mind.

On-Time Commissioning: The project was completed within the client’s operational timeline, allowing them to resume full use of the wash bay without delays.
