Recently appointed to finish a thorough plumbing and food fitout for a new café lease in Sarina, Queensland, was Citi Industries. Working in the hotel industry, the project required accuracy, food-grade compliance, and seamless integration of all services to create a functioning café atmosphere.
The main objectives of the project were to ensure that food service spaces and all plumbing infrastructure complied with relevant local regulations, were safe, and were fully functional. Our team offered complete plumbing solutions to help the café launch on schedule and under their budget.
Scope of Works
Completing the following under a “do and charge” approach guarantees client flexibility and adaptability to on-site conditions:
- We started the tenancy with rough-in plumbing for both cold and hot water services, therefore laying a strong basis for all water-dependent fixtures.
- New above-floor trade waste lines were installed internally across the tenancy to link all kitchen and café fittings as specified by the given designs. This was crucial to guarantee, in line with commercial food service regulations, the safe disposal of wastewater.
- Appropriate venting to the atmosphere was provided for the tank as well as the new trade waste line. This guarantees long-term operational safety and compliance and helps prevent pressure from building up.
- Installed as a single RPZD (Reduced Pressure Zone Device) backflow valve. This essential feature guards against possible contamination of the café’s water supply, therefore fulfilling a regulatory need in food service operations.
- Every amenity included sanitary plumbing connections to accommodate the needs of both staff and clients in the bathrooms.
- The Citi Industries team connected all plumbing fixtures as advised in the client’s design. Kitchen sinks, prep basins, toilets, and handwash stations were among the client-supplied fixtures.
- The team also installed a new client-supplied hot water unit to guarantee enough hot water delivery to every kitchen and bathroom point.
Challenges and Solutions
- The internal tenancy layout required exact plumbing routing. Utilising overhead solutions and compact waste routing systems, our skilled plumbers navigated spatial restrictions.
- Trade waste treatment and cross-contamination avoidance were among the strictly local authority rules followed by all materials and installation processes for food companies.
Project Outcome
Every plumbing system in the project was thoroughly tested and found to be completely functional. The café was able to proceed with its intended final fit-out and open for business. Providing safe, compliant, and sensible solutions to the hospitality sector, Citi Industries remains the reliable partner for commercial fit-out plumbing in Queensland.
