The scope covered external drainage infrastructure and a full internal plumbing fit-out, including integration with the facility’s existing holding tank. The facility remained operational throughout. This required careful planning and staging of every work phase around production schedules. The team completed concrete scanning across the washbay area before beginning any excavation.

External Drainage and Stormwater Infrastructure
The external works established the primary drainage network responsible for capturing washbay runoff and directing it through approved systems. Works completed included:

Oil Water Separator Preparation

Getting the pipework and diversion pit configuration right at this stage matters. A hose tap was also installed adjacent to the oil water separator location to allow the separator and surrounding infrastructure to be cleaned and serviced during routine maintenance.
Internal Drainage and Plumbing Works
Alongside the external network, ourcommercial drainage plumbing team completed the internal works to ensure the equipment cleaning area was properly equipped for safe washdown operations:
Installation of a 150mm stainless steel bucket trap within the equipment cleaning area
Installation of new cold water supply lines for washdown hose positions across the washbay
Installation of a hose tap adjacent to the oil water separator location
Installation of backflow prevention valves on water lines serving washdown hose reels, the diversion pit, and hose taps used for equipment cleaning
The stainless steel bucket trap is worth calling out specifically. Positioned at the point of source, it captures food solids and debris before they travel into the drainage line. As a result, this protects the wider industrial washbay drainage system from premature blockage. Additionally, it extends the time between maintenance interventions significantly. It is a simple yet effective measure that enhances the system’s performance over time.
Backflow Prevention and Plumbing Standards
