Food service businesses need proper waste management to achieve compliance standards and run their operations efficiently. Citi Industries recently completed a full installation of an above ground grease trap and pump station in the very popular West End, QLD restaurant. The case work exemplifies the company’s capacity in implementing reliable, competent solutions in the food service industry.
Problems Faced by the Client
The client had severe problems with their waste management system. The outdated and inadequate system couldn’t handle the large amount of waste generated daily. This presented a risk of blockage and bad odour, potentially leading to improper disposal and a violation of the local council’s rules. The restaurant sought a modernised system that could effectively manage trade waste while adhering to the strict rules set by Brisbane City Council.
Solutions Provided by Citi Industries
Citi Industries applies a focused approach to answering customer needs. Above-Ground Grease Trap Installation in West End:
- Above-Ground Grease Trap Installation: The organisation installed an above-ground grease trap of 1500-litres capacity for enhancing its capability to manage wastes. This upgrading can effectively provide for the separation of fats, oils, and grease with the wastewater.
- Installation of Dual Pump Station: We installed a 500-litre Ultraflow dual pump station to handle the increased waste volume. We engineered the system for constant reliability, ensuring uninterrupted operation even during peak periods.
- Fitment of Control Panel: A new control panel was installed, which the client nominated electrician would install electrically, thereby ensuring integration with the existing electrical installation, without any disruption.
- Ventilation Upgrades: We fitted new 100mm PVC vents all the way up into the ceiling space and connected them to the existing vents. A new 50mm vent was installed at the outlet trap, which complements the latest Brisbane City Council’s requirements.
- Provisional Point for Trade Waste: We installed a provisional point for their plumber to connect trade waste. This installation can easily be altered if adjustments are required in the future.
- Connection of the new grease trap outlet to the pump station. From that it could connect the outlet of the pump station to the local sewer line in B1 ceiling space.
The company, Citi Industries, supplied a turnkey solution tailored to the needs of the restaurant. This ensured we installed an efficient above-ground grease trap, upgraded the ventilation system to meet local authority requirements, and maximised on-site waste management capability.
Result of the Project
The team completed it on schedule with minimal interference to restaurant operations. We have greatly improved efficiency, virtually eliminated blockages, and removed any foul odours from the waste management system. The upgraded system fully met Brisbane City Council’s trade waste requirements and gained full approval during inspections.
