Grease Trap Installation in Biggera Waters, Queensland

Client: Property in Biggera Waters

Grease trap installation projects which require to be accurate, comply with the regulations, and be done quickly have been put on hold but still Citi Industries is the one to lead. A newly done project of grease trap and drainage system in Biggera Waters, Queensland is one such case that reflects the company’s perception of difficult plumbing and busy commercial areas.

Project Overview

The client required a complete grease trap installation at the rear loading dock of a commercial building. The aim was to develop a trade waste management system that would be both compliant and efficient so that it could take the daily commercial use’s demand and at the same time support environmental and regulatory compliance.

An unusual characteristic of the project was the loading dock area which was highly active and where the project was seated. The project included a safety program, clear communication with the surrounding companies, and perfect operation in order to avoid any damage to the underground infrastructures that were already there. Citi Industries managed the whole process, making it less disturbing and more effective at the same time.

Challenges Faced

There were multiple challenges that arose in the project. Working space was limited and we had to plan strategically to not interrupt the operation in the area. The concrete cutting and excavating had to be carefully carried out to avoid harming the existing infrastructure. What’s more, compliance with Queensland trade waste standards was non-negotiable; therefore, every stage of the installation had to meet strict plumbing codes and environmental regulations.

Nevertheless, the project team of Citi Industries took control over the entire project, which was completed on time and stayed within the limits of the specified scope and their strong project management and technical expertise were the reason for that.

Scope of Works

From start to finish, Citi Industries handled all aspects of grease trap installation. The specific scope of works included:

  • Concrete scanning, cutting, removal, and replacement for site preparation.
  • The installation of a new grease trap at the loading dock area not only adhered to the necessary requirements but also gained a lot from the durability aspect.
  • The outlet of the trap was hooked up to the sewer line which is already through the tenancy.
  • Both the grease trap and trade waste line are vented to the atmosphere through 100mm vents installed to provide proper ventilation.
  • According to the client, internal drainage works were completed for the new trade waste fixtures. Off-site disposal of all concrete and spoil to a licensed refuse centre.
  • Installation of a 15mm RPZD valve and hose tap for grease trap washdown, with a water connection located within 10 metres.
  • Installation of two 1-metre stainless steel floor channels and grates (supplied by others) for washdown drainage. Every phase of the project was completed with a focus on compliance, safety, and efficiency.

Solutions Implemented

Grease trap installation was successfully delivered by making use of a few strategic practices that were invented by Citi Industries. The team first performed concrete scanning in order to map out the underground utilities, thus eliminating the risk before any cutting took place. Concrete was removed and reinstated in a way that minimised the impact on the site.

The trade waste system was connected to the fixtures, including the hydraulic ones, which not only allowed proper operation but also made servicing easier. The way of collecting debris was also efficient as all spoil and waste materials were taken away to a local facility approved for this purpose. The project team had constant communication with the client in order that the project would be aligned with operational schedules as well as safety requirements.

Project Outcome

The final outcome was a fully functional grease trap system designed for reliability and compliance. The new setup permits a smooth linkage between the sewer and trade waste systems along with easy washdown capability and long-term performance as benefits.

Citi Industries not only offered the best professional service but also replaced the site after cleaning reflecting its commitment to quality assurance. The system that was completed was up to all the Queensland plumbing and trade waste standards—thus, it could be used straight away in a commercial place with high demand.
